ABOUT ANDRIE

From the Great Lakes to the Illinois and Mississippi river systems, Andrie is the Midwest’s premiere marine transportation and service company. Founded in 1988, we provide a wide range of award-winning services to a broad range of customers – from local, national, and global corporations to small and medium-sized companies alike.

Andrie prides itself on our knowledge of the industry, experience on the water, our highly qualified people, and superior specialized equipment. Andrie’s multifaceted vessels lead the Great Lakes in quality, performance, and delivery.

From our headquarters in Muskegon, Michigan, Andrie serves a diverse marine customer base by executing Great Lakes projects and ventures from the Atlantic to the Pacific, from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico.

1988

Andrie was formed in April of 1988.

Andrie is a privately held company owned by the Andrie family. The company started with 25 employees, two tugs, and two tank barges.

1993

A third tug and tank barge were added to the fleet.

1995

Andrie expands its fleet.

Andrie purchased its fourth tug and was awarded a contract to manage Lafarge Corporation’s new ATB, the G.L. Ostrander and Integrity.

1996

Andrie increases its operations.

Stan Andrie purchased Inland Lakes Management, Inc. (ILM), and Andrie began to manage the Lafarge U.S.-Flag Great Lakes fleet of five ships.

2005

Andrie was awarded a long-term contract to manage the Innovation barge and Samuel de Champlian tug.

Andrie was awarded a long-term contract from Lafarge to manage the Innovation, a new self-unloading barge paired with a retrofitted tug, the Samuel de Champlain.

2007

The Marine transportation operation significantly expanded.

Andrie successfully bid on a long-term contract to design, construct, own, and operate a 50,000 barrel tank barge and tug for BP. The ATB was delivered to BP service in 2009.

2010

Andrie signs a contract to manage 63,000 barrel capacity ATB.

Andrie signed a multi-year contract with Occidental Chemical Company to manage a 63,000 barrel capacity ATB. This vessel is in the calcium chloride trade and is currently under renewed contract.

2011

Andrie secures a 70,000 barrel tank barge.

Andrie secured a multi-year contract to manage a 70,000 barrel tank barge unit for U.S. Venture, Inc. This vessel is in the light oil products trade and is currently under contract.

2018

Andrie’s celebrates 30th anniversary.

Andrie was awarded the contract to manage an additional tank barge unit for U.S. Venture, Inc. 

Andrie continues to provide safe, cost effective, environmentally sound and high quality marine services for its customers. Andrie’s promise is to be the First Choice for our Customers and Employees. We are continuing  to evolve and are committed to our customers and employees to ensure the long term success of the Company.

2019

  • BP Shipping chose the tug KAREN ANDRIE / barge ENDEAVOUR as the recipient of their 2010 Ship of the Year for efforts above and beyond expected performance levels with respect to HSSE and the creation of a HSSE culture onboard.
  • American Maritime Safety; Safety Advisory Committee selected Andrie the Responsible Vessel Carrier in recognition of our dedication to preserving the marine environment and promoting safe vessel navigation, operation and maritime work practices.
  • The National Safety Council award for Occupational Excellence Achievement for having a 50% lower accident rate than the industry average.
  • American Maritime Safety awarded Andrie the Safe Working Practices Award
  • National Weather Service recognized the tugs KAREN ANDRIE and REBECCA LYNN for Outstanding Reporting
